Dancing is Fun and Fitness is Necessary!

Dance and Fitness:  A Synergy of Mind and Body

Getting fit is easy when you enjoy it.  Dancing is one of the best routes to take for  the optimization of muscle development and agility.  There is no better match than moving and stressing the muscles combined with stretching  them  for ease and flexibility.  The mind and body work together in both instances.

It takes great  control to send signals to different body parts to move and isolate in various ways.  This process develops good muscle memory,  and of course,  accompanied by music equals dancing.  It also engages the part of the brain that keeps track in a systematic order; like counting.

"Exercise in disguise" is a great little saying.  Thirty minutes on a treadmill is very different than thirty  minutes of Rungodance or Salsa dancing. Music helps motivate the movement and through active listening it  can also disguise the actual stress and difficulty of the action.  Hence the heart rate is elevated as the body enjoys the music and it's rhythm.   The deep , thumping  sound of  the bass as it moves through the song always encourages me to shoot for heights of achievement that  I would normally not reach.

And alas we have fun.  It's no secret that 'working out' and 'doing cardio' is not a  walk in the park.  It can be difficult, strenuous and for the best results, quite intense. However what greater reward than a rhythmical, high energy dance  that pulls you right out of your deep, serious grimace 'working out' or the like and smacks a big smile on your face...... Dancing is fun and fitness is necessary.

At Rungo Dance and Fitness  we strive to achieve the complete smile; the life  extending  task of flossing and sweating coupled with the life enhancing gift of smiling and dancing.
